life is like a train, love is like the sky, pure blue.. sometimes dark sometimes it shows the light blue..
well, me.. I am a human being with full of thoughts..

I had to say other, because I sure would like to believe in it, but I don't think it's possible for many people. I don't see it happening to me, but my parents swore they new from across the room the night they met they are reason I have to try to believe.

Certainly there is lust/desire/attraction at first sight, but I see love as something that is done, not something that is felt, and since you can't invest yourself in someone until you've actually spent some time doing just that, I don't believe in love at first sight (though I did back when I still thought of love and desire/attraction/affection/etc as synonymous).

I agree with you. I think it is chemistry that brings people together at first. However, it may happen ONCE in a lifetime to have such powerful chemistry (especially physical) with someone (at first sight) that it can haunt you ... maybe forever. Unfortunately, for some reason, this very strong chemical attraction ends in disaster because beyond the savage desire / lust, one finds out there's nothing there left to explore with that person. Maybe it's because lust blocks reason and prevents one from seeing the true colors.

My first real relationship was actually one of those "love" at first sight things, and it did indeed end in disaster and haunt me for a very long time (maybe still haunts a little inner part of me to some extent these 12 years later)...but it wasn't so much that we didn't HAVE anything else to explore together, as much as it was that he wanted a compliant little wifey to keep at home who wouldn't notice/say anything about his cheating, and I'm not the type who's willing or able to fill that type of role.

I have seen that "nothing left to explore beyond the sexual dynamic" situation with others, though.

I never believed it and thought it was a myth or fable... then I met Marina. We have been married happily ever after!
